Being thankful everyday!

Psalm 100 "Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations."

As we're entering the month of November, I easily find myself consumed and distracted with the hustle and bussle it all entails...birthdays, holiday parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas...don't get me wrong, if you know anything about me you would know that I LOVE this time of the year!!!! There is nothing better! But,I find that November is a great time to reflect and remember the past year and praise God for his faithfulness and thanking Him for just being, well God!

I thank God everyday for his faithfulness. He is so good! This past year has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, and at times doubting God's promises, but through it all He is God and He is good and His ways are higher than my own.

You see, I was beginning to think that I was going to be the mother of only 1 child. My husband and I had been trying to have another baby for about 2 years and I was consumed by it..it was putting a wedge between us and I wasn't content with having 1 child, now I love my first son, John, he is the best boy ever, my husband had to have a talk with me that I should be happy with just him and John which I wasn't, it was tough to hear because I knew he was right. I wanted to fix it. I wasn't relying on God and I didn't hand it over to Him. He had other plans, He wanted me to wait, which I have a hard time doing...and He wanted to teach me that His plans are bigger and better than my own.

During this time of waiting God showed me that I was going to have another child and it was going to be a boy. There were times that I doubted that, but He would reassure me that it was going to happen in His time, not mine which I wanted it to happen right away, remember I don't like waiting!

God's timing is perfect! With a little help, I became pregnant around Christmas time last year. God knew what He was doing the whole time. We were so excited! We felt God's hand was on this pregnancy the whole time. In August, 2011 I had my second son, Jackson. He was perfect. I look at him and I just know that he is a gift from God; both of my sons are! Through all of this my husband and I became closer as a couple.

So by now, you probably know that I am most thankful for my husband, my boys and that God has truly blessed my family and will continue to do so. I thank Him and praise Him everyday for that.

I am officially a blogger...

So I'm new at this blogging thing...it seems like all of my friends have blogs now. After Jackson was born someone told me that I should start a blog and honestly I haven't thought to do one until now. Maybe because I felt it too much effort and took to much of my time or really I thought who would want to read all of my rambling? Well, I guess a lot of people do! So here I am "blogging"! I feel like I have arrived!

Let me explain the title of the blog...The Kern crew is in a nutshell my family. This blog is dedicated to them and all the funny, crazy things that we do. I have 2 boys; John is 4 and Jackson is 2 months. They are 2 of the sweetest boys and I thank God everyday that I'm their mommy! So be watching for the Kern crew blog in the future to read and see what John and Jackson are up to!
